Description

The Information Management Platform for Data Analytics and Aggregation (IMPALA) environment provides an infrastructure hardware platform and software services to the Human Health and Performance Directorate at NASA JSC to conduct data analytics work. The individual will work in a technically diverse and dynamic environment with a team of engineers and administrators in all aspects of operating and managing the central high performance computing and Linux infrastructure that supports IMPALA.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental plan
  • Responsible for compliance with Quality Assurance Plan, policies and procedures
  • Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance level as determined by the Company
  • Responsible for completing all assigned training
  • Perform various system administration duties in a large Windows and Linux environment.
  • Work with Sr. Administrator to maintain and manage a LINUX/RHEL based Cloudera centric Aata Analytics Platform
  • Provide design, support, and administration of RHEL
  • Develop data back-up systems, processes, and procedures
  • Support Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Planning and Implementation
  • Provide production systems administration; and coordinate with database administrators
  • Support the development of policies, procedures, and processes for both operations and customer facing operations.

Education and Experience

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering or STEM field
  • Work with Sr. Administrator to maintain and manage a LINUX/RHEL based Cloudera centric Aata Analytics Platform
  • Provide design, support, and administration of RHEL
  • Develop data back-up systems, processes, and procedures
  • Support Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Planning and Implementation
  • Provide production systems administration; and coordinate with database administrators
  • Support the development of policies, procedures, and processes for both operations and customer facing operations.
  • Experience (1-3 years of experience) implementing and supporting Red Hat or similar branch of Linux
  • Experience implementing and supporting Linux in an enterprise and/or Lab environment
  • Detailed knowledge of integrating Linux within an Active Directory based environment
  • Detailed knowledge of Linux and Windows security hardening principles and practices
  • Working knowledge in providing system and hardware level support on Dell and HP Server technology

Skills and Training

  • Required: Red Hat Linux
  • Desired: Current Linux certification (RHEL or LPIC)
