Instrumentation Engineer

Description

  • Maintain and configure existing data acquisition systems to support facility test operations.
  • Design and develop new data acquisition systems to support facility test operations.
  • Review and track engineering deliverables for project status reporting.
  • Specify and initiate procurement of instrumentation.
  • Support facility test operations as a certified Instrumentation Engineer and produce required documentation.
  • Resolve corrective actions as they arise
  • Coordinate and maintain calibration procedures and activities together with the calibration quality manager.
  • Perform instrument calibration out of tolerance reporting and impact assessments as they arise.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering school and five (5) years of related engineering experience, or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and four (4) years of related engineering experience, or Ph.D. from an accredited engineering school and zero (0) years of related experience.
  • Understanding of electrical drawings and procedures for instrumentation systems.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems and their application.
  • Experience with instrument specification and calibration procedures.
  • Proficiency using computers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Preferences:

  • Familiarity with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures.
  • Experience with National Instrument Data Acquisition systems.
  • Experience with LabView.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Access.
